Old photos
In preparation for the imminent death of my beautiful macbook (mayflies live longer than these things - why do we all love them so much?), I've been sorting through old photos.
And look what I found ... a grainy wild horse on a sunny Cornish cliff. Happying. x

Heart urchins
Last summer I spent a happy evening swimming and walking along Camber beach. Ifound several funny looking super delicate shells/skeletons. I took them home, bleached them, popped them on the window sill and have been wondering what they might be ever since.
A friend with a super clever Dad on speed dial visited yesterday. In a flick of an iphone, he'd emailed a picture and his Dad was calling back with a diagnosis.
Heart urchins.
Then Hastings did it's usual spooky thing - 20 minutes later we were leafing through some old prints in Courthouse Street and lo - a heart urchin in full technicolour!
Later, unseasonably mild weather meant that we could picnic on the beach and play crazy golf with visiting friends, gull dodging all the while.
[The fonts are effing around today - have had to give up on trying to make them work - hence wonkiness.]

Entirely surrounded by water
'It's a little Anxious,' he said to himself, 'to be a Very Small Animal Entirely Surrounded by Water.'
AA Milne, Winnie The Pooh (1926)
Much like Piglet (except it was raining in his case and tiding in ours), our usually quite sensible family just got entirely surrounded by salty water.
Whoops.
I had to take my boots off and wade, the parents got soggy feet and the most customarily urban amongst us, B, stayed toasty and dry and his boots ... it just goes to show, when the tides are coming, it pays to wade steady!
Having escaped (just) from the salty deeps, I was rather taken by these hide and seek, peeping houses.

A pink window
It was one of those bright blue, crispy cold days when you can't stop saying WHAT a BEAUTIFUL DAY.
I didn't have my camera with me for most of it but here are a few shots from the beach just before dusk.
Windows from heaven over chilly seagulls; a bunch of buoys; and a pink window to nowhere in particular.
